This week has been one of the most important of the last period for everyone of us, in particular for the future of our team.
Let’s recap: everything started one week ago, especially on Saturday in the late evening when the American businessman Joe Tacopina landed in Catania to try to speed up the last steps for the closing. Last week-end was also characterised by a wonderful performance of our team that won against Potenza by scoring five astonishing goals, getting three important points for the Serie C table. Then, there were a few days of silence, waiting for a response of the Italian Revenue Agency.
This one, who represents an important creditor, expressed its intentions for a possible agreement on Tuesday, showing its willingness to cooperate with S.I.G.I. in order to define all the minimal aspects for the debt restructuring, in fact, the requested amount to be paid by the club, amounts to 5,7 million euros to honor in ten years! This is another important step for the final closing, because the amount Catania has to pay, is very low compared to the initial one (around 12.5 M).
Nowadays the very last “obstacle” is represented by the municipality of Mascalucia, this one before taking a final decision has to reunite the municipal council in order to examine the proposal of balance and removal of previous debt: 2 M € payable in installments in ten years, and the agreement on municipal areas to be fixed to compensate for the credit prerogative of the administration.
In the next days, Joe Tacopina will leave Catania, and he will be back in the States for work commitments, but he will come here when everything will be ready for the final signatures!
