Probably everyone of us feels disappointed due to Catania’s defeat against Catanzaro, which represents the sixth defeat of the season away from “Angelo Massimino” stadium for the rossazzurri.
It was a very balanced match between two teams that are still fighting for a better place on the final table, in order to dispute playoff after the end of the season. The first half was completely balanced, in fact it was characterized by an important in-depth study between the two teams, trying extensively the construction of dangerous opportunities, but at the same time it was a fragmanted first half due to the great amount of fouls and mistakes made by the two sides.
Everything changed during the second half of the match, when the home side started to play an offensive game scoring a great goal thanks to the wonderful pass made by Martinelli who found Di Massimo, who was able to beat Miguel Angel Martinez (goalkeeper of the away side). It was a sumptuous performance of Catanzaro that despite the difficulties, due to the heavy absences (COVID), was able to take advantage of the opportunities rather than the team managed by Francesco Baldini, in fact the second goal comes just a few minutes before the end of the match, for the final score of 2-0.
It was a deserved defeat against an opponent who, despite the many absences on the field, proved to be stronger than us, but at the same time, it was a useful defeat especially for the psychological perspective of our players who should do their best for the playoff.
