Yesterday was a fantastic day for Catania and for the fans since the new owner of the club Ross Pelligra, presented himself and part of his project to the entire city at the town hall. It was a formal greeting with the presence of the advisor Dante Scibilia together with municipal authorities such as acting Mayor Roberto Bonaccorsi and the councilor for sport Sergio Parisi.
“Today I’m honored to be here, Catania and Sicily are the grassroots in which my family come from, it’s in my blood; as a young boy and over the years of travels to Italy, every time of come home to Sicily especially Catania, I could feel Catania is in my blood. Even though I was born in Melbourne in Australia, I still feel the connection across the board of the water, I have something that is connected to me, and today I can feel the connection, I can feel now why I am Sicilian“.
“A week ago I was here in Sicily, I walked in streets, I sat at the restaurants again, I walked around the stadium and I can feel the connection and the heart of people. I’m really honored, I’m proud and my family in Australia are so happy. We gonna come in, we gonna set up the club from the scratch, we are gonna rebuild this club that is gonna have into generations“.
“The club will have business plans, the club will sustain and go beyond myself, the club has had a history, the heart and the hard work has been putting into this club and I can see it, I can feel it so I’m gonna carry this legacy“.
“Over the next two-three weeks I will be assembling the team, this gonna be a group that’s gonna take the same vision, we gonna create jobs for the people of Sicily. We focus on building the academy among the young generations and the talents that are in Sicily. For me that’s gonna be a lot of challenges, we gonna create a team of legends“.
“One of the thing I’m gonna promise to the city is that I’m not gonna be like other presidents I’m gonna be working hard, I’m gonna make sure that children and people support this team, I’m gonna listen to everyone, the history of this club is not lost! We are here, and we are here to stay.“
