Catania ends its regular season reaching the sixth place of the table thanks to the complex and difficult draw against Foggia, played at “Pino Zaccheria stadium” yesterday evening.
It was a very hard match for the rossazzurri, who had suffered a lot for most of the first half, not surprisingly they had conceded two goals to their opponents, thanks also to mistakes made by the Spanish goalkeeper Miguel Martinez. Catania started to play an offensive game only from the half hour, in fact four minutes later, Golfo closed the gap through a beautiful header, scoring the momentary 2-1.
The second half was completely different because Catania’s players tried to score a goal in order to reach at least the draw. The home side was very tired and they allowed the away one to draw the match again with Francesco Golfo who scored his first two goals with Catania.
It was a balanced match, an useless draw in terms of the final table for both of the teams. The rossazzurri have reached the sixth place, whereas the satanelli the ninth one.
By all rights, these two teams will face each other in the first round of the playoffs, waiting for the hearing for the possible refund of the two penalty points inflicted on Calcio Catania.
