Catania claimed a fourth straight Serie C win courtesy of an impressive victory over Potenza under the watchful eye of Joe Tacopina who is waiting for the agreement to close, in order to become the new custodian of the club! Rossazzurri controlled and dominated the game, despite some initial difficulties, in fact the away team (Potenza) scored a goal in the second minute of the match, but there was a straightforward answer from Etnei who scored the first goal with Matteo Di Piazza.
This is the beginning of an astonishing match, Catania was more energetic and more aggressive throughout, harrying the Potenza players and denying them any time to think, let alone pick a pass. More goals were inevitable and before the end of the first half, they came through Luca Calapai’s lucky finish, because the ball hit the post and went in.
At the beginning of the second half, Catania was still dangerous and scored his third goal of the match thanks to the ability of Matteo Di Piazza (who got his second goal), but Potenza did not give up and tried to fix the game by making the 3-2. The home side had the potential to score more, thanks to the great amount of dangerous actions, in fact around the 70′ minute, Andrea Russotto realized a spectacular bicycle kick goal that stunned Potenza, and at the end of the match, Andrea Zanchi realized a beautiful head goal, for the final result of 5-2.
It was a world-class performance for sure, and this one will be extremely important in a psychological perspective, especially looking forward to the next difficult game against Catanzaro on Sunday 18 April.
